I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.

I heard an original song written by my best friend. My Dad tried to get me to play the guitar for years. Nope, not me! I'd rather go and do anything else. Until that moment when I heard my best friend writing a song for his girlfriend at the time. The thought of writing my own feelings and words and making a song out of it intrigued me. And then I was hooked!

I taught myself how to play the guitar just using the internet. I watched several musicians online and bled through learning all the chords. One night I was tricked into going to watch my buddy "read poetry" at a Baton Rouge bar called Phil Brady's. I felt bad for the guy because I knew there was nothing but musicians at this place. So I went. And I was the fool. The owner asked for any volunteers to play and my buddy called me out. I played 'Turn the page' by Bob Seger and it was aaaawful (in my opinion). The whole bar applauded, the owner asked me to come back and that is where it all started.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana is where I spent most of days learning from other musicians and performing. Currently I play at local bars in and around Asbury Park, New Jersey. I also play charity events, parties and weddings. Friends and family thought long and hard over alcoholic beverages and like to scream "BLAKE BREAUX LIIIIIIIVE!", so... that's the name I went with!

There is no greater feeling than playing music for people. The emotion, chaos, laughter and general appreciation I receive while playing music is one of the best feelings in the world. And I'll never stop playing so long as I'm able.
